About the Position SP Industries Inc. is hiring a Buyer in Gardiner, NY . In this role the candidate will perform all purchasing activities that enable the cost effective and timely delivery of materials and services, in an ongoing effort to support production and customer order schedules, while also supporting non‑production needs. Key Responsibilities Execution of purchasing standard work, supporting supply chain activities and broader revenue, quality, and on‑time delivery goals. Review and analyze MRP requirements against planned order and exception reports to determine purchasing actions required. Execute and manage purchase order processes, including documentation, data entry, submission, order expediting, delivery, and reconciliation of related issues. Ensure continuity of inventory or project materials to support customer on‑time delivery and revenue by responding to planning triggers such as ROP, EOQ, min/max, or safety stock, and by making parameter recommendations and implementation. Maintain master data and implement purchasing and planning item attributes for new part releases (lead times, cost, UOM, supplier information, inspection or certificate requirements, and vendor attributes) within the ERP system. Support supplier consolidation in alignment with SP preferred suppliers. Secure competitive quotes to ensure fairness of pricing, timeliness of availability, and maintain source of supply. Identify and understand critical suppliers; develop and maintain relationships with key suppliers; conduct regular open‑order reviews and manage mitigation or escalation of critical supplier performance. Take initiative to solve supplier issues and/or part shortages to improve long‑term supplier performance and resolve stockouts. Review POs and order confirmations from suppliers for accuracy and discrepancies, ensuring alignment on delivery dates, cost, shipping information, and all applicable PO details. Assist with general responsibilities within the tactical purchasing department, such as reviewing and converting purchase order requisitions. Required Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution or 3–5 years related working experience. Working knowledge of an ERP system. Prior experience with MS Office. Preferred Qualifications Professional certification (or working towards) such as APICS or CIPS. Experience working in a global organization or in manufacturing. Working understanding of MRP and ERP concepts related to purchasing, supply and demand, and material and vendor analysis. Salary Range $65,000 – $75,000 Health, Safety & Environmental Responsibilities Work in compliance with divisional health, safety, and environmental procedures. Report any accidents/incidents to supervisor. Assist in investigating accidents/incidents. Refrain from engaging in any prank, contest, feat of strength, unnecessary running or rough and boisterous conduct.
