On Call Visitor Information Specialist

Job Title: On Call Visitor Information Specialist Reports To: Communications & Visitor Services Manager Summary of Position Visitor Information Specialists (VIS) provide enthusiastic service to visitors via telephone, email and in person at the Visitor Center, Benton Convention Center and information booths at indoor and outdoor special events. VIS’s provide information about the attractions, restaurants, and amenities in Forsyth County to increase guest satisfaction and encourage engaging with local businesses and organizations. The position requires flexibility of shifts based on visitor demand needs including work on weekends. Knowledge / Job responsibilities Must have outgoing personality and work successfully with the public including communication skills, tact, telephone presence, and courtesy Knowledgeable about Winston-Salem’s history, people, and events Keep abreast of current information in the Winston-Salem area which would be of interest to travelers, including transportation, cultural opportunities, special events, sporting events and exhibits, in addition to permanent resources such as hotels, restaurants, attractions, and shopping areas Must have the ability to use a variety of resource materials to gather additional information Ability to use Microsoft Word, Excel, email, and other computer software programs while performing tasks including data entry Assist visitors in making accommodation and restaurant reservations Accurately record names, addresses and other pertinent information from visitors by phone or email Operate general office equipment including computer, copier, postage meter, and others as required Ability to open and close the Visitor Center/offices Assist with special events such as Art Crush, including tent set up Assist with servicing conventions and sporting events including operating information tables at satellite locations Must learn quickly and can work independently with minimal supervision Must be able to work on call and Saturdays 10:00 am – 4:00 pm Must be able to lift 40 pounds Perform other duties as assigned Qualifications/Education High School Degree or equivalent Customer Service Experience is preferred Candidate must be highly organized and professional Proficient with computers and office equipment Must have a valid driver's license This is a part-time, on-call position with pay of $13/hour. #J-18808-Ljbffr
