Early Career Structural Engineer

We are currently seeking an Early Career Structural Engineer to support our Oak Ridge, TN office. An Early Career Structural Engineer will participate in the design process, assisting in developing design calculations, design drawings, and construction specifications for structures made of steel, concrete, and masonry. This role focuses on new design challenges, expanding career skills while supporting the development of life‑changing infrastructure across the United States. Qualifications Sole US citizenship required (to comply with government customer requirements and/or applicable government regulations) B.S. in Structural/Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited engineering school 0–3+ years of post‑education experience Engineering in Training (EIT) certificate obtained or ability to obtain within 6 months of employment Ability to follow and implement established quality procedures and ensure that all work accomplished is procedurally compliant Competence using Microsoft Office software Reside within commutable distance of our Oak Ridge, TN office Ability to learn new software as necessary for project success Preferred Qualifications Experience using Revit, AutoCAD, or MicroStation software Work Location This position is full‑time in Oak Ridge, TN. Essential Functions Intermittent sitting, walking, standing, bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling, twisting, and lifting. Lifting requirements are limited to 20 lbs. in the form of supplies, drawings, etc. The longest distance carried is 50 feet. Hand manipulation is required for simple grasping, pushing and pulling, and fine manipulation. Right and/or left hands are utilized. Occasional need to reach and/or work above the shoulder, for supplies, as well as below the shoulder for the same. No foot controls are necessary. Must be alert to equipment in the field. There will be occasional travel, work near construction job‑site equipment when in the field, occasional need to work near hazardous equipment and machinery, occasional need to walk on uneven ground, exposure to dust, gas or fumes, exposure to noise, extremes in temperature or humidity, and potential work at heights. Must be able to work in a team atmosphere Must put forward professional behavior that enhances productivity and promotes teamwork and cooperation Grooming and dress must be appropriate for the position and must not impose a safety risk/hazard for the employee or others Must take and pass a pre‑employment drug screening and background check Compensation Details $70,000 - $95,000 The compensation range or hourly rate listed for this position is provided as a good‑faith estimate of what the company intends to offer for this role at the time this posting was issued. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as job responsibilities, education, experience, skills, internal equity, market data, applicable collective bargaining agreements, and relevant laws.
