Senior Accountant

Jones, Savarese, Harrington & Company is a growing, mid‑sized public accounting firm based in St. Charles, Illinois. We provide high‑quality accounting, tax, and advisory services to a diverse client base. As our firm continues to expand, we are seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to join our team in our St. Charles office. Position Overview The Senior Accountant will be responsible for managing client accounting functions, maintaining accurate financial records, and supporting tax and reporting activities. This role requires a high level of technical accounting knowledge, the ability to manage multiple clients, and a proactive, detail‑oriented mindset. Key Responsibilities Maintain and oversee general ledger activities for multiple clients Manage accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, and cash management Perform and review bank, credit card, and loan reconciliations Prepare and post adjusting and closing journal entries Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements Prepare quarterly and annual payroll tax returns Prepare and file sales and use tax returns Assist with and review income tax preparation Identify process improvements and ensure compliance with accounting standards Communicate directly with clients and provide financial insights Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Accounting 10+ years of accounting experience (public accounting strongly preferred) Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting Advanced proficiency in QuickBooks (Desktop & Online) Strong Microsoft Excel skills Proven ability to manage multiple clients and deadlines High level of accuracy, organization, and attention to detail Ability to maintain strict confidentiality Preferred Qualifications Significant public accounting experience Experience with multi‑entity or multi‑state clients Work Schedule Busy Season (Jan 1 – Apr 15): Mon–Thu: 8 AM–6 PM | Fri: 8 AM–5 PM | Sat: 8 AM–12 PM Spring/Summer (Apr 16 – Labor Day): Mon–Thu: 8 AM–4 PM | Fridays Off Vacation: No time off permitted Jan 2 – Apr 15 annually. #J-18808-Ljbffr Jones, Savarese, Harrington & Company
