Funding The Alley’s financial position is strong, with an endowment of $35 million and cash reserves exceeding $5 million. The FY26 operating budget is around $24 million, and the theatre aims to raise approximately $12 million in contributed revenue this year. There is no operating or capital debt. Job Statement The Individual Giving Officer will manage a portfolio of 100–120 individual donors and prospects, each with a giving capacity of up to $15,000 annually, to help achieve financial goals and collaborate with the Individual Giving team. Job Duties Act as the primary portfolio manager for 100–120 individual donors and prospects with capacities between $2,500 and $15,000 annually. Meet annual financial and activity goals through cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of donors. Conduct at least 150 substantive actions (including face‑to‑face visits) with portfolio donors and prospects annually. Collaborate with the Research Analyst to cultivate new donors and nurture existing ones based on research insights. Attend all donor events—including Greenroom greetings, CenterStage dinners, Individual Giving Committee meetings, receptions, and patron events—to build relationships. Plan and record all donor interactions in the database for accurate reporting and portfolio management. Advance donor and prospect relationships through personal contact: one‑on‑one meetings, tours, impact reports for high‑level donors, pre‑ and post‑show social hours, and regular calls, texts, emails, letters, and seat notes. Stay informed about all Alley performances and educational activities to tailor cultivation and stewardship efforts. Participate as an active team member in the fundraising department and assist other development staff as needed. Support the Special Events team with annual fundraisers such as the Alley Ball and Deck the Trees. Take part in end‑of‑year and end‑of‑season annual fund campaigns. Adhere to the Theatre’s policies and procedures, work safely, perform duties as required, maintain a positive and respectful attitude, communicate regularly with the supervisor, manage time efficiently, prioritize workload, attend regularly with punctuality, meet productivity standards, participate in Theatre events as needed, and complete additional duties as assigned. Qualifications / Requirements A minimum of three years of experience in nonprofit fundraising, including direct solicitation and cultivation strategy development. Excellent communication skills with the ability to prepare and present formal written and oral materials. Strong collaboration skills, working effectively across departments and as a high‑performing team player within the Development department and the organization. Demonstrated ability to multi‑task and meet deadlines. Proficient with Windows products, including Word and Excel. Broad knowledge of individual‑giving fundraising principles—including identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship. Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal skills. High attention to detail and accuracy. Ability to maintain confidentiality. Flexibility to attend patrons’ and special events on evenings and weekends. Bachelor’s Degree preferred. Physical Requirements / Working Conditions Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Ability to lift and move 25 lbs. Comfortable working in a fast‑paced environment with changing directions and priorities. Typical daytime hours, but the position requires flexibility for weekend, holiday, and evening work as needed.
