Assistant Controller

This is a fully onsite position. Remote and hybrid work arrangements are not available. Hutchinson & Bloodgood is conducting a confidential search on behalf of our Mid-Wilshire area-based client. This close-knit organization is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Assistant Controller to join their team. In this role, you will support the accounting function by assisting with daily, weekly, and monthly accounting activities and helping ensure the accurate and timely processing of financial information. Responsibilities: Lead and coordinate the monthly, quarterly, and annual accounting close processes, ensuring accurate and timely completion of all required activities Record journal entries and ensure financials comply with GAAP and other applicable accounting standards Oversee fixed asset accounting, including maintaining asset records, reviewing activity, and reconciling balances to the general ledger Prepare and analyze monthly financial reporting for individual properties and consolidated entities, highlighting significant activity and variances as appropriate Provide support throughout the annual budgeting, forecasting, and financial projection processes Manage departmental reporting and budgeting schedules to ensure financial deliverables are completed accurately and within established deadlines Coordinate the preparation of audit schedules, reconciliations, and support documentation for the Company's annual audit Evaluate existing accounting procedures and identify opportunities to improve processes, enhance efficiency, strengthen controls, and improve the reliability of financial reporting Perform additional accounting, financial reporting, and related responsibilities as assigned Qualifications: 7+ years of experience within real estate, property accounting, or a related industry. Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or business administration from an accredited institution Strong proficiency in Yardi and the Microsoft Office Suite Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills Strong verbal and written communication skills Ability to multitask, prioritize responsibilities, and meet deadlines Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy Why you'll love working here: Competitive compensation and generous health and welfare benefits Strong focus on work/life balance Opportunity to work with a friendly and supportive team The compensation for this position ranges from $95,000-$120,000.
