Health Care Technician II (Lead)

The Black Mountain Neuro-Medical Treatment Center in Black Mountain, NC, is currently accepting applications for a Health Care Technician II (Lead). This position is located on unit Rasberry 2 (R2) on Day Shift (1st).

Applicants who possess the following skills are preferred:

• scheduling staff and ensuring proper coverage of the residential unit
• formulating daily staff assignments in collaboration with the Nursing Unit Manager
• providing on-the-job training and mentoring to HCT I's and providing information related to the operation of the unit and the care of the residents to groups of staff
• coordinating HCT I staff within the unit to assist with medical appointments, off-campus activities, leisure activities and to provide back-up support to other units as needed
• assisting nursing staff as needed and performing other duties as assigned

Flexibility is required for training/education purposes and to meet the needs of the facility.

Shift Premiums for 8-Hour Shifts: Day: 5% weekend shift premiumEvening: 20% shift premium plus an additional 5% weekend shift premiumNight: 20% shift premium plus an additional 5% weekend shift premium

Shift Premiums for 12-Hour Shifts: Day (7:00 am - 7:30 pm): 5% weekend shift premiumEvening/Night (7:00 pm - 7:30 am): 20% shift premium plus an additional 5% weekend shift premium

A Sign-On Bonus of $2,500.00 may be offered to the successful applicant(s) of this posting, contingent on the 2025-2026 Budget Approval.

To qualify for the Sign-On Bonus, a newly hired permanent full-time or permanent part-time employee must work 30 to 40 hours per week to be eligible. Those who are eligible and working less than 40 hours a week will receive a pro-rated rate.

An employee is not eligible for a Sign-On Bonus if:

• The employee has held a position in the North Carolina State government, including the judicial system, or the University of North Carolina system, within the last 12 months (the employee shall remain ineligible for 12 months from the separation date).
• The employee has previously received a Sign-On Bonus from any State agency.
• DHHS has paid any contract placement or recruitment fees.

All Sign-On Bonuses are contingent upon budget and final eligibility determination as of the effective date of hire.

Minimum Education and Experience: High school or General Educational Development diploma and one year of related work experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Special Condition for Continued Employment: As required, listing as a Nurse Aide I by the North Carolina Division of Health Service Regulation. As applicable, listing as a Nurse Aide II by the North Carolina Board of Nursing. As applicable, North Carolina Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) certification.
