Food Service Assistant (S)

We are seeking a reliable and caring Food Service Assistant to join our dietary team. This role is vital in helping prepare and serve meals to the residents of Black Mountain Neuro Medical Treatment Center (BMNTC) while maintaining a clean and safe kitchen environment by meeting and exceeding sanitation standards as outlined in the NC Food Code.

Applicants who possess the following skills are preferred:

• Demonstrated knowledge of basic food preparation, cooking, and baking procedures.
• Basic knowledge of appropriate methods of cleaning and sanitizing equipment and small wares.

• Ability to maintain high sanitation standards as outlined in the NC Food Code. Ability to follow oral and written instructions; efficiently and accurately complete department records and documentation as required.
• Ability to perform moderately heavy physical labor for extended periods of time.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements: Education and/or experience in food service that is directly related to the job and consistent with accepted practices of the trade.

This Position Is Designated As Mandatory And Must Report Or Stay Over During Adverse Weather Events.

Available shifts/schedules will be discussed during the interview. Scheduling flexibility is required for weekends, holidays, special events, training/education and to meet the needs of the facility.

ABOUT BLACK MOUNTAIN NEURO-MEDICAL TREATMENT CENTER:

Black Mountain Neuro-Medical Treatment Center is one of three state operated facilities serving adults with chronic and complex medical conditions that co-exist with neurodevelopmental or neurocognitive disorders often related to a diagnosis of severe and persistent mental illness or intellectual disability. The health and physical status of our residents require 24-hour supervision, daily nursing care, and assistance with activities of daily living.

We are a specialized long-term care facility focusing on maintaining quality of life and dignity for adults with neurocognitive or neurodevelopmental disorders with coexisting complex medical and behavioral needs whose level of support extends beyond that which can be provided in family or community living settings. We are committed to providing individualized compassionate care delivered by highly skilled staff.

SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION:

DHHS uses the Merit-Based Recruitment and Selection Plan to fill positions subject to the State Human Resources Act with the most qualified individuals. Hiring salary will be based on relevant qualifications, internal equity, and budgetary considerations pertinent to the advertised position.

Positions in the Division of State Operated Healthcare Facilities shall be subject to pre-employment drug testing and criminal record background checks.
