This position is also responsible for performing all assigned preventative maintenance on customer equipment and recommending service as needed. Proper processing of paperwork is required at the completion of each job. The Dock and Door Road Technician will also be responsible for a company-owned service van and will be required to maintain the van and parts inventory it carries.Essential FunctionsIdentifying the general problem based on customer concern and testing to locate the failureCompleting the appropriate repairs in the safest and most efficient manner and testing the equipment to ensure it is working properlyDriving to and from locations (customer sites, parts pickups, etc.) to address on-site needs the customer.Making necessary repairs (with customer approval) and other basic maintenance as neededProcessing the necessary documentation at the completion of each job, ensuring all parts are accounted for, time is properly documented, and each repair is itemizedFollows all safety procedures in performing work as well as company policiesProperly identify and order all necessary replacement partsOther duties may be assignedSupervisory ResponsibilitiesThis job has no supervisory responsibilities.QualificationsTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable qualifying individuals to perform the essential functions.Education and/or ExperienceHigh school diploma, G.E.D. or tech school graduate preferredMust be a certified welder or able to obtain certification within the first 30 days of being hired.Successful completion of the welder apprentice level or three years welding experience.Ability to read and comprehend regulations and instructions written in the locally applicable language(s).Ability to perform duties at elevated heightsDemonstrated ability to repair equipment per skill levelBasic Computer/Tablet knowledge (Microsoft and Apple operating systems)Valid driver license and clean driving record must be maintained throughout employmentDemonstrates exceptional customer service skillsLanguage SkillsAbility to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine correspondence.Mathematical SkillsAbility to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, percentages, and ability to perform these operations using addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. Ability to understand weight measurement, volume, and distanceReasoning AbilityAbility to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
