Metal Fabricator I

The purpose of the Metal Fabricator I is to cut, grind, and MIG weld required materials per enclosures, frames, bracket drawings & customer specifications.

Job duties and responsibilities include:

• Use and operate a variety of hand and power tools
• Follow and maintain all established safety standards and procedures
• Follow and maintain all established quality requirements, standards and procedures
• Communicate inventory issues to lead and/or supervisor
• Develop and maintain positive working relationships with team members through effective communications
• Identify and suggest safety, quality, productivity, and cost reduction ideas
• Cut square tubing, flat stock, and angle iron into correct lengths and dimensions
• Use brake press and shear to cut and form stainless steel sheets into doors and panels
• Read and interpret production drawings and use fixturing to tack materials into correct shape
• Inspect tools and equipment to ensure they are reliable and in safe working condition
• Fabricate and install stainless steel and laminate doors and panels and associated components

Required qualifications include:

• High School Diploma or GED
• <1 year experience in welding/fabrication or Diploma/certificate from reputable welding training technical school
• Basic math skills
• Demonstrates clear, professional, and respectful verbal and written communication
• High level of attention to detail and accuracy
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, standard operating procedures, and maintenance instructions
• Ability to safely operate a variety of power tools
• Familiarity with common steel and other types of materials
• Pass Basic Weld Test
• Positive proven attendance, quality, and productivity record
• Read and use a tape measure, square, level, and other basic hand tools
• Use decimal to fraction conversion tables and work in 1/16" increments

Preferred qualifications include:

• Vocational / Technical Degree Program Completion
• Ability to work with drawings, blueprints, or schematics
• Basic computer skills

• Occasionally 1-33%: Sit, Stoop/Bend, Crawl/Kneel
• Frequently 34% - 66%: Walk, Reach above shoulder
• Continuously 67% - 100%: Stand, Repetitive hand/wrist, Hand Movement - Fine Manipulation, Hand Movement - Gross Grasping, Hand Movement - Simple Grasping
• Frequently 34% - 66%: Lift / Carry 26-50 lbs.
• Occasionally 1-33%: Confined spaces, Heat
• Frequently 34% - 66%: Loud noise, constant or periodic
