Therapeutic Recreation Specialist

Therapeutic Recreation Specialist – Newport House Immanuel Communities is seeking a Therapeutic Recreational Specialist to work at Newport House, located at 6798 North 67th Plaza, Omaha, NE 68152. Newport House features 24 skilled nursing and rehabilitation suites, along with 72 long‑term care suites. This full‑time position requires regular hours from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., including one evening per week and one weekend day per month. The schedule may vary based on activity planning and organizational needs; candidates must be available and flexible to accommodate weekly changes. Qualifications and Experience Bachelor’s degree in Recreation Therapy or a related field. At least two (2) years of experience in therapeutic recreation, activity programming, or a similar role supporting older adults. Experience in a skilled nursing facility or senior living environment preferred. Willingness to complete the Nebraska‑certified “Activity Coordinator” course or obtain certified therapeutic recreation specialist certification. Minimum age 21 years with a valid driver’s license in the state of residence; in Iowa, a chauffeur license or ability to obtain one within 14 days of employment is required. Acceptable record from the respective state’s Motor Vehicle Department. Depending on location, may be required to have proof of insurance and reliable means of transportation.
