Job Title: HR Specialist, Benefits (Retirement) Location: Tallahassee, FL Regular/Temporary: Regular Full/Part Time: Full‑Time Job ID: 62036 Department: Office of Human Resources | Benefits Responsibilities Administration of the Florida Retirement System Pension and Investment Plans, the FICA Alternative Program, the Optional Retirement Program, and tax‑sheltered annuities, including enrollments, terminations, counseling, payroll queries, and any employee/vendor inquiries. Coordinate and analyze all queries, reports, and files for each pay cycle, assisting with leave payout coordination with HR teams. Work with employees who are retiring and guide them on continuing benefits, such as retiree insurance; also handle deceased employee families, including final pay and benefits. Assist with related duties as required, such as the Benefits and Wellness Fair, Retirement Planning Seminar, New Faculty Orientation, the HR‑Retirement Inbox, and maintain compliance with F.S. 119 and FRS. Provide assistance to the Insurance team as coverage and situation require. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree and two years of experience in human resources or a related field, or a high school diploma/equivalency with six years of equivalent experience. (Post high‑school education or experience may substitute at a comparable rate.) Excellent customer service skills, ability to communicate retirement options, strong problem‑solving and calm under pressure, strategic thinking and attention to detail. First 60‑90 days will involve learning State of Florida and FSU retirement plans, procedures, and meeting vendor representatives and key HR staff. Additional Requirements Position is an A&P position.
