Scientist II

AbbVie seeks a Scientist II in Worcester, MA to develop and optimize downstream purification processes for biopharmaceutical pipeline molecules. The role combines early and late-stage process development with continuous improvement initiatives, requiring independent laboratory work and cross-functional collaboration.
Responsibilities
- Develop downstream processes for early and late-stage pipeline molecules supporting CMC activities
- Drive commercial process development for purification and optimize unit operations using experimentation
- Lead continuous improvement and next-generation platform development initiatives
- Design, execute, and characterize process development activities with high independence
- Author publications, presentations, regulatory documents, and patent applications as primary inventor
Requirements
- BS in biological science (7+ years lab experience) or MS (5+ years experience)
- Focus in immunology, biochemistry, molecular biology, cell biology, or related discipline
- Thorough theoretical and practical understanding of own scientific discipline
- Strong oral and written technical communication skills
- Demonstrated problem-solving ability and project coordination experience
- Experience in purification process development strongly preferred
- Background in chemical or biochemical engineering preferred
