Responsibilities

• Conduct
  
  
  comprehensive
  
  
  patient
  
  
  assessments,
  
  
  including
  
  
  reviewing
  
  
  medical
  
  
  and
  
  
  dental
  
  
  histories.
• Perform
  
  
  dental
  
  
  prophylaxis,
  
  
  periodontal
  
  
  maintenance,
  
  
  scaling
  
  
  and
  
  
  root
  
  
  planing,
  
  
  and
  
  
  other
  
  
  preventive
  
  
  hygiene
  
  
  procedures
  
  
  as
  
  
  allowed
  
  
  by
  
  
  state
  
  
  regulations.
• Take
  
  
  and
  
  
  evaluate
  
  
  dental
  
  
  radiographs.
• Educate
  
  
  patients
  
  
  on
  
  
  oral
  
  
  hygiene,
  
  
  periodontal
  
  
  health,
  
  
  nutrition,
  
  
  and
  
  
  preventive
  
  
  care.
• Identify
  
  
  signs
  
  
  of
  
  
  periodontal
  
  
  disease
  
  
  and
  
  
  collaborate
  
  
  with
  
  
  the
  
  
  doctor
  
  
  to
  
  
  develop
  
  
  appropriate
  
  
  treatment
  
  
  recommendations.
• Document
  
  
  clinical
  
  
  findings
  
  
  accurately
  
  
  and
  
  
  maintain
  
  
  detailed
  
  
  patient
  
  
  records.
• Assist
  
  
  in
  
  
  developing
  
  
  treatment
  
  
  plans
  
  
  and
  
  
  explaining
  
  
  recommended
  
  
  care
  
  
  to
  
  
  patients.
• Utilize
  
  
  dental
  
  
  technology
  
  
  and

Qualifications

Qualifications:

• Current dental hygienist license
• Excellent working knowledge of dentistry, dental hygiene procedures, dental patient screening and medical history documentation
• CPR Certification

Preferred Experience

• Experience using Velscope, Diagnodent, digital scanner, digital x-rays and electronic medical record systems
• Desire to continue learning and grow clinical skills to meet needs of patients and provide preventative care and overall maintenance of patients' dental health
• Clinical needs as required by office
• Completion of Tuberculosis (TB) testing prior to starting employment
