DENTAL ASSISTANT – ADVANCED Position Title: Dental Assistant – Advanced Location: Chapel Hill, North Carolina, US Hours: 40 hours per week (Monday – Thursday 7:30 – 5:00, Friday 7:30 – 1:00) Schedule: Full‑Time Permanent Salary: $45,258 – $51,794 per year (MH05 / GN07) Position Summary Sign‑on Bonus: $2,000 paid in 2 installments: $1,000 within 30 days of hire and $1,000 12 months after hire. The Dental Assistant Supervisor will supervise, hire, plan, organize, and monitor the work of other Dental Assistants in the Dental Faculty Practice while providing dental and surgical assisting duties across specialty areas such as Periodontology, Prosthodontics, Endodontics, Operative, and General Dentistry. Key Responsibilities Schedule Dental Assistants and implement clinic policies and procedures. Prepare the clinic, order and obtain necessary supplies, materials, and equipment. Set up trays using sterile techniques and assist with restorative and surgical procedures. Assist with obtaining informed consent and documenting pre‑ and post‑operative vitals. Prepare patients for procedures, review post‑op instructions, and assist patients and families as needed. Restock inventories in a prescribed manner. Assist clinical faculty in training students and provide chairside assistance. Maintain asepsis, sterilize instruments, and process radiographs. Minimum Education and Experience Requirements High‑school diploma or equivalency and completion of an accredited dental assisting program; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Preferred Qualifications Previous supervisory or lead Dental Assistant experience. Excellent communication skills and ability to work with staff, faculty, and patients. Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast‑paced environment. Minimum of two years of chair‑side dental assisting experience. Schedule Requirements Exposure to bloodborne pathogens and hazardous materials; occasional overtime; patient care involved.
