Location Austin, TX or San Antonio, TX (Hybrid – 2 days onsite/week) Duration Long-term Contract / Full-time Role Type 100% Mainframe Administration (No development work) Overview We are seeking an experienced Mainframe Administrator to support, maintain, and optimize enterprise-level mainframe systems for client. This role focuses on ensuring system reliability, performance tuning, and issue resolution across production and non-production environments. Candidates must be local or willing to commute onsite twice per week. Key Responsibilities Manage, configure, and maintain mainframe infrastructure and system software. Perform system upgrades, patching activities, backups, and performance optimization. Monitor, diagnose, and troubleshoot mainframe system issues to ensure stability and uptime. Collaborate with internal IT, infrastructure, and support teams to facilitate smooth operations. Ensure adherence to security, audit, and compliance requirements. Required Skills 5+ years of hands-on experience as a Mainframe Administrator. Strong expertise with z/OS, JCL, RACF, DB2 , and mainframe operational tools. Ability to perform system tuning, troubleshooting, and root‑cause analysis. Strong communication, analytical, and problem‑solving skills. Must be able to work onsite 2 days/week in Austin or San Antonio, TX. Texas‑based candidates are highly preferred. No development work—this is strictly a Mainframe Administration role.
