Adjunct Faculty - College of Nursing (Fresno)

Samuel Merritt University is seeking adjunct faculty for the School of Nursing at the Fresno campus. Adjunct faculty will create a positive learning environment and deliver instruction in theory, laboratory, or clinical courses in medical‑surgical nursing, critical care, pediatrics, maternity, community health, mental health nursing, or simulation. Responsibilities Complete required adjunct faculty orientation. Design and deliver dynamic, learner‑centered classroom/hybrid activities that support diverse learning needs. Maintain Canvas course, manage attendance, and respond to student communications within 48hours. Elicit mid‑term progress reports, create mutual learning plans for at‑risk students, and notify program leadership weekly. Participate in program and course faculty meetings, review courses and recommend improvements. Provide individualized learning support and timely written feedback on examinations, papers, and projects. For courses with clinical or laboratory components: conduct pre‑intervention meetings, complete clinical orientation, model reflective practice, mentor students, and submit final clinical evaluations and grades. Qualifications Master’s or doctoral degree in nursing or a related field from an accredited institution. Teaching experience with diverse baccalaureate or higher‑degree students. Unencumbered California registered‑nurse license (or eligibility for licensure). Demonstrated competence in the intended teaching area at the student level. Experience working with leadership in healthcare, academia, or community organizations. Skills & Abilities Effectively work independently and as part of a team. Communicate via e‑mail, documents, and web programs. Deliver verbal and written communication clearly. Model ethical and professional behavior and align safety and quality with student learning activities. Employment Details Fixed‑term, part‑time adjunct faculty. Compensation ranges from $600 to $8,000 per assignment, based on role, location, and qualifications.
