Position Summary


Our client, a High-end Japanese restaurant is looking for a Assistant General Manager who supports the General Manager in overseeing daily restaurant operations, team leadership, guest experience, and financial performance. This role serves as the GM's second-in-command and is designed for individuals with the potential to grow into a General Manager position.

Key Responsibilities


Operations Management

• Assist in managing daily restaurant operations and service execution.
• Oversee opening/closing procedures and maintain operational standards.
• Monitor labor, food, and beverage costs.
• Prepare operational, reservation, and sales reports.
• Support inventory management, scheduling, and process improvements.

Team Leadership

• Recruit, onboard, train, and coach restaurant staff.
• Assist with scheduling, performance evaluations, and employee development.
• Lead manager meetings and support continuous operational improvements.
• Partner with HR and the General Manager on staffing and employee relations.

Guest Experience

• Ensure exceptional guest service and resolve customer concerns.
• Support guest retention and loyalty initiatives.
• Maintain high hospitality standards throughout every service.

Qualifications


Required

• 3+ years of management experience in fine dining, luxury hospitality, or upscale restaurants.
• 5+ years of overall hospitality industry experience preferred.
• Experience with restaurant operations and POS systems.
• Business-level English.
• Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Authorized to work in the U.S.

Preferred

• Bachelor's degree in Hospitality, Business, or related field.
• Conversational Japanese.
• Strong interest in Japanese cuisine and culture.
• California Food Manager Certification (ServSafe or equivalent).
• RBS Certification.
• Sommelier certification.
