Requisition No: 875155 Agency: Department of Health Working Title: SENIOR PUBLIC HEALTH NUTRITIONIST - 64033491 Pay Plan: Career Service Position Number: 64033491 Salary: $2,135.94 - $2,242.74 Biweekly Posting Closing Date: 11/01/2026 Responsibilities Provide nutrition education and counseling for high‑risk and medically high‑risk clients, including breastfeeding promotion and support. Perform nutrition assessments, develop culturally relevant counseling, create high‑risk nutrition care plans, and document services in the WIC data system using SOAP format. Assist with issuance of medical foods and prepare nutrition education materials for individual counseling and group presentations. Determine nutritional risk and income eligibility, certify participants per DHM 150‑24, and ensure issuance functions are separate to maintain program integrity. Issue WIC electronic benefits, schedule appointments through the WIC appointment system, review benefit usage in approved grocery stores, and provide program information to clients, staff, community organizations, and the public. Act as Lead Public Health Nutritionist in the supervisor’s absence, reporting daily on staffing, facility issues, meeting attendance, and urgent decisions. Participate in quality assurance, monitoring activities, community outreach events, and comprehensive nutrition program activities. Perform other related duties as requested or required. Qualifications Minimum of 2 years of licensed professional experience in Public Health Nutrition, or a master’s degree from an accredited institution recognized by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics in public health nutrition, dietetics, food and nutrition, or food service management. Verifiable license as a Dietitian/Nutritionist in accordance with Chapter 468, Florida Statutes. Licensed Dietitian/Nutritionist required; registered dietitian status or eligibility to take the examination is desirable. Current authorization to work in the United States without employer sponsorship. Ability to travel as required and work beyond normal hours during emergencies.
