Location: Tyson's, VA (5 days a week to start/ maybe flexible after 6 months for 1 day remote)

Interview process: 2 steps (virtual then onsite)

Must-Haves

• From a similarly small org (~250 employees or less), used to wearing many hats
• Player/coach - has real people-management/leadership experience (not just a senior tech promoted with zero management background)
• ITIL knowledge - able to build process from scratch, not just follow it
• L3 certification - GCC (not GCC High)
• Strong communicator/collaborator - able to bridge IT with HR, Finance, Marketing, etc.
• Comfortable with high-urgency, after-hours issue resolution
• Heavy coordination skills - will help scale onboarding (80+ hires this year)
• Able to mentor 2 junior/MSP-background direct reports running the SolarWinds ticketing system
• Comfortable working alongside an MSSP
• 100% cloud/M365 environment experience

The ideal candidate will have come from a smaller environment as this position is the 3 rd IT hire for this company size of 250 people. This person will report to the Interim CIO. This person will have two direct reports who are junior recent hires that are managing the Solarwinds ticketing system. Communication and collaboration skills are important and occasional after hours issue resolution is needed. This company is still setting up internal processes and procedures so someone who has ITIL experience to know how things should be done would be important. Example: they were manually imaging laptops until they recently set up a process for this.

About the environment:

Had 1 IT person for 25 years for 250 people (said they need 3-4 minimum).

2 junior IT people onboard (1 help desk from an MSP- first corporate inhouse IT role and the 2 nd is a jr system admin from an MSP who also did some govt work) and these two resources manage the ticketing system

Needs a player/coach- the junior team members

dont know what they dont know. Needs someone who can show them the ropes and help them. Someone making a sys admin to a manager role would be ok but has to have some managerial leadership experience. A tech person with no manager exp wont work. Needs someone with some IT Maturity. L3 cert- GCC not GCC high

Has other agencies that are working on it also- did some interviews already- no final candidates in play yet.

Similar sized organization would be good because they will be used to wearing different hats and learn to establish processes. Very fast paced company and have to be able to keep up. 80 hires already this year. This person needs to help onboard alot of people bc they arent set up for that yet being a smaller company. Needs alot of coordination experience. CNMC and needs resources to support their organization and be efficient with what they have now. Example given was that they didnt have imaging laptops and they had to do it all manually which was painful. They made the investment and it's not a manual process anymore .

Tech stack: M365, 100% cloud, 1800 Tysons and 1750 Tysons (15 -20 ppl), Everything is centrally managed in Tysons. Must be very responsive and used to operating at a small business level as everyone needs quick resolutions. Has a help desk system to track whats outstanding but sometimes tickets come in after 5pm and if its critical it needs to be resolved. Example: last week the CEO wasn't getting his emails after hours.

MSSP in the background- wants the org to have confidence in the ticketing system. HR/ IT/ Finance gaps may all onboard and offboard employees and need to ensure it can run smoothly.

Solarwinds- Jan 1 st went live. Someone who understands collaboration and who is good at it. Example: sending an email to HR and Marketing but Marketing wants to roll out a signature tool.. needs someone who can bridge the gap and make sure we identify the risks and understand where there may be future issues...so this person needs to help with the coordination and communication.
