This full-time, remote position is dedicated to defending lawsuits filed in California courts and handling first-party insurance defense. Key Responsibilities The selected Counsel will represent GEICO and its insureds in civil litigation matters. Primary duties include: Researching complex legal issues and preparing comprehensive legal briefs, opinions, and memoranda. Rendering professional opinions on liability, damages, and valuation to assist the Claims Department. Drafting and handling pleadings, motions, and discovery requests. Conducting and defending depositions, examinations before trial, and examinations under oath. Defending assigned cases through trial or dispositive hearings. Eligibility Criteria To be considered for this role, candidates must meet the following strict requirements: Experience: A minimum of 7+ years of active litigation experience in insurance defense, personal injury, or civil litigation is strictly required. Education: A Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school is required. Bar Admission: Active license and good standing with the California State Bar, with the commitment to maintain mandatory Continuing Legal Education (CLE) requirements. Travel: Ability to travel as necessary to attend trials, hearings, depositions, and corporate meetings.
