Executive Director

Responsibilities of the part-time (20-hour) exempt position based in Chaffee County, Colorado: Development (50% of time) Achieve the organization's revenue goals through grant activities by researching and cultivating grant opportunities, writing grants, and supervising the activities of a contract grant writer/researcher. Advance fundraising goals for the organization through Colorado Gives, major gifts, membership and corporate partnerships. Work closely with the board president and marketing committee to engage board members in donor cultivation, stewardship and solicitation activities. Administer all processes, systems, and marketing/communications that support donor management. Operations/Administration (30% of time) Work with the Farm Director to prioritize distribution requirements from funding partners. Contribute to the development of an annual budget, administer the funds of CFTT according to the approved budget, and monitor the monthly cash flows of the organization, in coordination with the treasurer, finance committee, and contract accountant. Ensure that CFTT adheres to a healthy, transparent non-profit financial model, and to work directly with the contracted accountant and CFTT treasurer to generate monthly financial statements and to create and submit the annual IRS 990 filing. Ensure the organization is and remains in compliance with all laws and regulations. Oversee the creation of CFTT’s Annual Report. Participate in a performance review following six months of service and annually thereafter. Attend monthly board meetings and provide a comprehensive monthly ED report, fundraising status, staff/volunteer performance, and other operational status. Attend committee meetings and support committee activities. Participate with the board, strategic planning committee, and Farm Director to implement and expand the organization’s vision and multi-year strategic plan. Ensure organization activities align with the strategic plan Volunteer and Community Relations (20% of time) Recruit and manage farm volunteers, with help from a volunteer coordinator, and contracted professional service providers. Network in the community to cultivate relationships with local organizations and community leaders. Required Skills: Strategic leadership Non-profit fundraising and grant management Strong communication and stakeholder engagement Financial and operational oversight Excellent analytical and critical thinking, decision making, oral and written communication skills Organization and time management Technological proficiency with basic tools such as Excel, Google workspace, MailChimp, Square, and WIX; familiarity with donor management software desired Physical ability to occasionally travel to community events in Chaffee County and help set up CFTT booth signage This job is considered at-will employment.
