Respiratory Therapist (NICU/PEDS) - Travel Assignment

We are seeking an experienced Respiratory Therapist with strong NICU and Pediatric experience to join a premier children's hospital for a rewarding travel assignment. This nationally recognized pediatric facility offers advanced respiratory care services in a collaborative environment dedicated exclusively to neonatal and pediatric patients.
About the Facility

• 247 Licensed Beds
• Level I Pediatric Trauma Center
• Level IV NICU
• Teaching Hospital
• Accredited Chest Pain Center
• Certified Stroke Center

Traveler Requirement: Permanent residence must be located at least 50 miles from the facility.
Position Overview

This role provides respiratory care exclusively to neonatal and pediatric patients throughout the hospital. The ideal candidate will have recent experience working in pediatric-focused settings and be comfortable supporting patients across multiple critical care environments.
Experience Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of Respiratory Therapy experience required
• Must have pediatric-only experience within the last 5 years
• First-time travelers accepted

Patient Population

• Neonates
• Infants
• Children
• Adolescents

Care is provided throughout:

• Emergency Department (ED)
• Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU)
• Pediatric Cardiovascular ICU (CVICU)
• Pediatric Progressive Care Unit (PCU)
• General Pediatric Medical Floors
• Level IV NICU

Required Certifications & Licensure

• BLS
• ACLS
• PALS
• NRP
• RRT or CRT Credential
• North Carolina Respiratory Therapy License

Required Skills

• Recent pediatric respiratory therapy experience
• Experience with IPPV/NIPPV ventilator management
• Strong critical care assessment and intervention skills
• Ability to work independently within high-acuity pediatric environments

Please note: Candidate experience in ED, PICU, CVICU, or ICU settings should be clearly identified during submission.

Technology & Equipment

• EMR: EPIC (EPIC proficiency preferred; competency testing required for expedited onboarding)
• Ventilator Management:
  
  • IPPV
  • NIPPV
• Additional equipment details discussed during manager interview

Floating

• No floating to other facilities due to the specialty nature of the pediatric patient population.

Orientation & Onboarding

• Total onboarding includes:
  
  • 2 days of computer training, equipment review, and facility orientation
  • 1 day of unit-specific orientation for ED and general pediatric areas
• Travelers with multi-ICU experience will receive additional orientation days in each assigned specialty unit

Scheduling Details

• Shift Options:
  
  • Days: 6:45 AM - 7:15 PM
  • Nights: 6:45 PM - 7:15 AM
• Weekend Rotation: Every other weekend
• Call Requirement: None
• Holiday Requirement: Travelers work approximately 75% of holidays
• Schedule Cycle: Every 6 weeks
• Time Off:
  
  • Up to 6 days may be approved (excluding holidays)
  • Any approved time off may require extension of the contract to fulfill contracted hours
