Modified Soccer Assistant Coach - PSLA (Fall 2026) Job Description The Syracuse City School District is On the Rise! We are undergoing a new phase of innovation and transformation with the goal of ensuring that all students graduate high school with the skills needed to be ready for college and career. The Syracuse City School District represents 35 schools and programs, including 6 high schools, 6 middle schools, 6 K-8 schools, 13 elementary schools, and 4 alternative education programs, serving approximately 19,000 students Pre‑K–12. Of these students, 82.3% qualify for free or reduced‑price lunch, 20.1% are served by the Office of Special Education, and 83% are students of color.

POSITION BEING HIRED:

Boys Modified Soccer Assistant Coach - PSLA (Fall 2026) We offer 120 different athletic teams for students in grades 7-12. Our coaching staff consists of certified, dedicated people who enjoy working with our student athletes. They are individuals who work very hard and care a great deal about the individuals for which they are responsible. In grades 7-8 we offer a comprehensive modified program, which serve as a "training ground" for skill development and participation. Winning is NOT emphasized and large numbers on teams are encouraged for maximum participation. We stress discipline, enjoyment or play, competition, and dedication to the value that hard work will produce rewards. The modified program prepares our young student athletes for the higher level of high school competition. To participate at the high school level, a higher refinement of skill is necessary and competition is viewed at a higher level of comprehension. Our high school freshman, Junior Varsity, and Varsity teams strive for success and practice to produce as efficient a team and individual effort as possible. At the high school level, we stress the development of academics, goal setting, teamwork, leadership and sportsmanship.

QUALIFICATIONS:

New York State Coaching Certification, which requires the following: Valid First Aid course accepted as meeting NYS Coaching requirements Valid Adult CPR certification accepted as meeting NYS Coaching requirements Workshop - Child Abuse Identification Workshop - School Violence Intervention and Prevention Workshop - Dignity For All Students Act (DASA) Previous Coaching Experience (preferred) The successful candidate will be required to pass a fingerprint‑based background check, at the cost of $102.50 to the candidate.
