Data Engineer

The main function of a data engineer is to ensure that the data assets of an organization are supported by an architecture that supports the organization in achieving its strategic goal. A typical data engineer is responsible for setting enterprise standards for databases, data integration, and the means to get to the data. Creating business facing data modeled views to be used in facility KPI reporting. Multiple ongoing lists of business projects.

Typical day:

• Test programs or databases, correct errors and make necessary modifications.
• Modify existing databases and database management systems or direct programmers and analysts to make changes.
• Write and code logical and physical database descriptions and specify identifiers of database to management system or direct others in coding descriptions.
• Daily standup meeting to assign tasks in object creation, data modeling views, or validating data with business

Technical skills required:

Expert knowledge of logical data modeling and physical data modeling. Expert knowledge of computer software, such as SQL, Visual Basic, Oracle, etc. 5 years Snowflake. Other programming languages such as Python is a plus

Soft skills required:

• Verbal and written communication skills, problem solving skills, customer service and interpersonal skills.
• Basic ability to work independently and manage one’s time.
• Basic knowledge of logical data modeling and physical data modeling.
• Basic knowledge of computer software, such as SQL, Visual Basic, Oracle, etc.

Education requirements:

• Associate's degree in computer programming or a relevant field required. Bachelor's degree preferred.
• 2-4 years experience required.
• 5 years Snowflake SQL experience required in lieu of degree.
