Director - Outpatient Imaging

In this role, you will lead the operations of outpatient imaging services while partnering closely with the Associate Chief of Medical Imaging, faculty, and hospital leadership to ensure the highest standards of patient care, safety, and service. This leader will play a key role in driving operational excellence, supporting clinical innovation, and developing high-performing teams within a complex academic health system dedicated to improving the health of the communities we serve.The Director oversees the day-to-day operations of outpatient diagnostic imaging modalities, including Mammography, Nuclear Medicine, X-ray, and Ultrasound. This role places a strong emphasis on breast imaging, and candidates should bring demonstrated experience in mammography and/or leadership within a breast imaging department. The Director provides leadership consultation and support in communication with referring providers and patient population service lines, ensuring seamless, high-quality care across the continuum. Responsibilities include effective resource utilization; program and policy development, implementation, and evaluation; and strong project leadership.As a member of the Radiology & Medical Imaging leadership team, this individual demonstrates clinical expertise and contributes to continuous quality improvement, customer service excellence, resource and financial management, operational efficiency, and professional development. The Director partners closely with faculty and Medical Center leadership to ensure effective collaboration and the successful advancement of departmental and organizational priorities.Job DescriptionProvides effective leadership and guidance for outpatient imaging modalities, including Mammography, Nuclear Medicine, X-ray, and Ultrasound, and the management teams supporting those areas.Models effective communication and collaboration skills/behaviors, working closely with the Associate Chief of Medical Imaging, faculty, and hospital leadership.Takes action, including program development, to achieve measurable results.Supports innovation and organizational change to improve effectiveness.Develops talent and coaches peers and others to develop their capabilities.Achieves budgetary goals and determines priorities for allocation of human, space, fiscal, and material resources.Applies knowledge of functional areas to effectively lead and manage operations.Responsible and accountable for meeting external and/or internal customer needs.Ensures compliance with appropriate regulatory requirements.Actively participates in leadership activities to support the strategic plans of the service line and the Medical Center.Develops and manages partnerships with clinicians, physicians, and administrative counterparts to achieve common goals and promote integration of multidisciplinary work groups.In addition to the above responsibilities, other duties may be assigned.MINIMUM REQUIREMENTSEducation: Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree must be obtained within 4 years of hire or transfer.Experience: 5 years of imaging management experience required, at least 3 years of which is in breast imaging/mammography. Experience in other modalities like Ultrasound and/or Nuclear Medicine is preferred but not required. 8-10 years of progressive management experience across a variety of imaging modalities or across multiple locations in a complex health system is strongly preferred.Licensure: ARRT Registered Technologist required; two or more ARRT certifications (e.g., Radiography, Mammography, Sonography, etc.) strongly preferred. Certified Radiology Administrator (CRA) strongly preferred.PHYSICAL DEMANDSThis is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job does occasionally require traveling some distance to attend meetings, and programs.The pay range for this role is $140,000.00 - $205,703.00 annually.
