Pharmacists at Hannaford Supermarkets play a crucial role in the professional and business operations within the pharmacy department. They partner with store managers and other associates to identify sales and marketing opportunities, supervise pharmacy associates, ensure adequate staffing and training, and maintain solid communication within the department and throughout the organization. Pharmacists are responsible for performing immunizations, maintaining a neat personal appearance, and supporting company safety standards.

Qualifications for this position include a degree from an accredited school of pharmacy, a current license in good standing in the state(s) in which to practice, current and active immunizing pharmacist certification, and complete knowledge of state and federal laws pertaining to pharmacy practices. Pharmacists should also have a desire to be a motivated, caring professional with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with customers, associates, other health care professionals, and the community at large. Flexibility to work nights, weekends, and holidays is required, as well as the ability to handle multiple priorities and provide direction to associates.

Physical requirements include standing 100% of the time with occasional walking short distances, frequent/continuous handling of containers and manipulation of pills/capsules and equipment, clerical accuracy skills, frequent/continuous reaching, grasping, lifting, and carrying up to 10 lb., bending at the knees and waist repetitively up to 30% of the work day, and having sufficient visual acuity and audio capability to process prescriptions and service customers by phone and in person.

Preferred requirements include processing prescriptions accurately, providing outstanding customer service and patient counseling, acting as a liaison between the store and healthcare professionals, patients and law enforcement, maintaining and ensuring confidentiality of patient and company information, meeting the physical requirements of the position, and promoting and participating in initiatives to grow the pharmacy business.
