Field Mechanic

Position Summary As a Field Service Mechanic, you’ll be responsible for routine and emergency repairs as well as preventative maintenance on a variety of heavy equipment. Working primarily in the field with some time in the shop, this role demands strong diagnostic skills, mechanical expertise, and a commitment to safety and reliability. Key Responsibilities Perform maintenance and repairs based on operator inspection reports. Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical issues on gas and diesel engines and powertrains. Follow manufacturer and company guidelines for inspections and preventative maintenance. Plan repair procedures and requisition necessary parts and materials. Accurately document labor, parts, and repairs using CMMS software. Overhaul engines and major components using technical references and best practices. Fabricate hydraulic systems, lifting devices, and other components as needed. Test equipment post-repair to confirm proper functionality. Position Requirements Proven experience as a field or heavy equipment mechanic. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Strong diagnostic skills for gas/diesel engines and powertrains. Experience with hydraulic systems and fabrication. Familiarity with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS). Good communication and reporting skills. Valid NC Driver’s License required; CDL preferred (not required). Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM–5:30 PM + rotating Saturdays 7:00 AM–12:00 PM. Availability for overtime, including evenings and weekends if needed. Ability to lift heavy parts and tools. Extended periods of standing, bending, kneeling.
