THE OPPORTUNITY

We’re partnering with a respected nonprofit organization in Portland seeking a Controller to lead the accounting function and support the organization’s financial operations. This is an excellent opportunity for an accounting leader who enjoys mission-driven work and wants to play a key role in financial reporting, compliance, and organizational decision-making. Compensation & Benefits $115,000–$145,000 salary Hybrid schedule in Portland Comprehensive benefits package Collaborative, mission-driven environment Opportunity to make a meaningful organizational impact What You’ll Do Oversee day-to-day accounting operations and month-end/year-end close Lead financial reporting and ensure accurate, timely financial statements Manage and develop the accounting team Oversee AP, AR, payroll, and general ledger activities Maintain strong internal controls and accounting policies Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis Coordinate annual audits and tax filings Ensure compliance with GAAP, grant requirements, and applicable regulations Partner with leadership on financial planning and organizational strategyProvide financial insight to support organizational decision-making What We’re Looking For Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field 7+ years of progressive accounting experience Nonprofit accounting experience required Previous Controller or accounting leadership experience preferred Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and internal controls Experience with audits, budgeting, and grant accounting Strong leadership and communication skills
