Join Our Team Join the dedicated team at MDI Hospital as a full-time Environmental Services Aide! This position offers possible shift differentials and the opportunity to play a vital role in maintaining a pristine and welcoming space for patients, visitors, and staff. The successful candidate will have a keen eye for detail, a commitment to health and safety standards, and a strong work ethic. Your Impact Patient Rooms and Public Areas: Clean patient rooms, offices, and public areas. Prepare rooms for new patients. Respond to emergencies regarding cleanliness. Inspect rooms according to standards. Notify superiors of any damage or disturbances. Cleaning and Maintenance: Perform general cleaning tasks (sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, etc.). Empty trash cans and replace liners. Dispose of trash and recyclables properly. Maintain hospital property through regular cleaning. Operate and maintain cleaning equipment. Report any maintenance issues. Health and Safety: Transport medical waste and other infectious materials. Follow hospital policies for bio-hazardous materials. Handle and dispose of waste according to regulations. Follow all health and safety regulations. Department Support: Participate in on-call schedules and cross-training. Assist in event planning. Requirements What We're Looking For Education, Training, or Certifications: Ability to read and interpret work assignments. Valid driver’s license may be required. High school diploma is a plus. Experience: Previous experience as a cleaner or housekeeper preferred but not required. Special Requirements: Ability to work with little supervision. Knowledge of cleaning equipment and tools. Understanding of healthcare sanitation procedures. Physical stamina and mobility. Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 30 lbs. Ability to prioritize tasks. Physical Demands: Ability to be on feet most of the shift. Ability to lift, pull, push, stoop, and reach. Ability to lift and carry objects up to 50 lbs. Adequate vision. No significant allergy to dust or cleaning supplies. Work Environment: Hospital setting with varying shift schedules. Work in the presence of other employees, patients, and visitors. Exposure to hazardous waste and body fluids. Work with floor strippers and harsh chemical fumes. Work outdoors in inclement weather. Withstand equipment heat and noise.
