Position Summary Anatomic Pathologist – San Francisco, California (USA). The Department of Pathology at the San Francisco Veterans Affairs Health Care System (SFVAHCS) and the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) seek a full‑time faculty candidate with clinical service, research, and teaching responsibilities primarily in surgical pathology, cytopathology, and autopsy service. Faculty appointment will be at UCSF at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor level in the HS Clinical or Clinical X series. Responsibilities Clinical service: sign‑out in cytopathology, surgical pathology, autopsy, frozen sections, inpatient and outpatient fine‑needle aspiration biopsies; rapid on‑site adequacy assessments; night and weekend call; presentation at tumor boards, interdepartmental conferences, and committees. Teaching: participation in trainee teaching, clinical rounds, and education of residents and fellows. Research: conduct and publish research; assist in development, revision, and review of standard operating procedures and accreditation compliance. Quality improvement: champion LIS system modernization and digital pathology initiatives as opportunities arise. Qualifications MD (or equivalent) degree, licensed to practice in California or another state. Board‑certified (or eligible at hire) in Anatomic Pathology. Completed fellowship in Surgical Pathology or Cytopathology (or ≥ 1 year independent sign‑out experience) and another pathology subspecialty (preferred GI/Hepatobiliary). Preferred additional experience in Digital Pathology, Molecular Pathology, and/or Laboratory Informatics. Demonstrated research publications, teaching experience, and excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills. Salary and Benefits For positions 51% effort or more, base salary ranges from $121,900 to $405,900, with eligibility for additional compensation under the health‑sciences compensation plan. For 50% effort or less, base salary ranges from $93,700 to $246,000. Veterans Affairs salary range for the position is $225,000–$400,000. The San Francisco Veterans Affairs Medical Center may offer up to $30,000 in recruitment/relocation incentive. Full‑time applicants are eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP).
