EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:

Performs highly skilled and complex work in the installation, maintenance, and repair of networked personal computers, audiovisual, telephony, and miscellaneous electronics equipment.

Personnel in this job classification are expected to perform duties with minimal direct supervision. Independent judgment in selecting work methods and procedures consistent with District standards shall be used.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Under general supervision of the Director of Technology, the Technology Specialist performs the following responsibilities within the overarching framework of the Mount Pleasant Community School District mission and vision.

• responsible for the operation, loading of all operational software, resolving technical problems, maintenance, accessibility, security, and back-up of all LAN equipment.
• Assess and/or repair computers, projectors, printers, and other classroom technology.
• responsible for the computer labs and a large number of peripheral equipment
• Work in person with teachers and staff to solve challenges with technology in the classroom.
• gives in-person training on computer-assisted instruction and telecommunications.
• organizes workshop training sessions with computer consultants in order to familiarize and update instructional assistance with operational and maintenance routines, new computer curriculum, and Instructional techniques.
• performs related duties as required.

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES DESIRED:

Education and Licensure (encouraged but not required) :

• A degree in computer science or related field
• Possess CompTIA or related data security certification.

Knowledge and Skills :

• Demonstrates strong organizational and communication skills.
• Demonstrates an understanding of research and potential applications of educational technology as it impacts student learning and instruction.
• Understands organizational issues related to the application of technology in education.
• Ability to apply problem solving strategies to issues involving teaching and learning with technology.

• Demonstrates an awareness of emerging technologies.
