Overview Texas Oncology is looking for an Infusion Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team! This position will support the South Austin location with occasional support for the Lakeway location. This is a full-time Monday - Friday 8am-5pm position with no weekends, call, or major holidays. This position can be a level 1, 2, or Sr based on candidate experience. LTIP awards are subject to continued employment through the award payment date, and are governed by the terms and conditions of the LTIP document. What does the Infusion Registered Nurse (RN) do? Under minimal supervision, the Registered Nurse provides professional nursing care for patients adhering to national and company standards and guidelines. The RN demonstrates knowledge of physiological, psychological, developmental, and age-specific differences. The RN collaborates with the interdisciplinary team to assess and manage patient and family needs, and supports the US Oncology Compliance Program, including the Code of Ethics and Business Standards. Responsibilities Plan, implement, coordinate, evaluate and promote the continuity of care consistent with established standards and practices. Assess patient/family needs and provide teaching and instructional material. Prepare and administer therapies under the direction and supervision of a physician. Administers all medications/blood products using correct medication/blood product, dosage/amount, route, time and technique. Assures pre-authorization and appropriate consent forms are obtained prior to administration of therapies where applicable. Facilitates dose modification by assessing patient, labs, consulting protocol or treatment plan, calculating dose, and consulting physician regarding dosage modifications, problems and symptom management. Performs venipuncture, accesses implanted ports and maintains central lines catheter devices. Maintains accurate documentation of assigned patient care and treatments provided. Applies knowledge of reimbursement procedures and charge capture. Qualifications The ideal candidate for the Infusion Registered Nurse (RN) will have the following background and experience: Level 1: Graduate from an accredited program for professional nursing education, BSN preferred. RN state license and current registration with the State Board of Nursing in practicing state. 0-3 years nursing experience, preferably at least one year in oncology. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. Level 2 (in addition to level 1 requirements): 3-5 years nursing experience. Oncology certification preferred. Level Sr (in addition to level 1 and 2 requirements): Five years nursing experience.
