Glatfelter provides their insureds with comprehensive insurance solutions including property, casualty, life insurance, and more. In 2018, Glatfelter joined American International Group (AIG) and is now part of the AIG family. About the Position Glatfelter Insurance Group is seeking an Actuarial Analyst I for our Glatfelter Specialty Benefits department. This entry-level position provides analysis, reporting, and support to the actuarial department and larger pension department. The role manages an assigned book of pension plans directly, while also generating actuarial and statutory reports for clients and auditors. This position works directly with external Plan Sponsors, internal Pension Administrators, and an actuarial team to provide actuarial insight and analysis on basic pension funding concepts. This position is required to be onsite at our Leader Heights, York, PA office. Key Responsibilities

- Prepare, interpret, and understand routine and complex pension plan documents.
- Prepare, review, and analyze pre-valuation and actuarial reports which includes, but is not limited to the following:
- Fully utilize pension system capabilities to facilitate annual plan updating
- Perform reconciliation of annual financial information
- Prepare/review New York Model Notes
- Prepare annual client reports
- Utilize Actuarial Models for data collection, tracking, and analysis for assigned pension plans.
- Be able to make calculated actuarial recommendations based on data analysis for all assigned pension plans.
- Responsible and accountable for an assigned book of pension plans. This includes all aspects of plan installation, administration, invoicing, account reconciliation, and client service. Provides effective and timely resolution of issues presented by clients, agents and insurance companies using analytical ability, independent thought and superior client service standards while also being mindful of departmental guidelines and procedures.
- Process day to day administrative paperwork associated with the administration of defined benefit LOSAP product.
- Maintain accurate and complete financials for all assigned plans.
- Facilitate timely and effective resolution of client requests and challenges with minimal assistance from management.
- Progress through preliminary (ASA) SOA Actuarial Exams and Modules with the goal to obtain an ASA designation.
- Performs other duties or special projects as assigned.
- Bachelor's degree in Actuarial Science or Mathematics, or a closely related field, required.
- Passing score(s) on 1 or more SOA Exams required.
- Obtain and maintain other licenses as required.
- Minimum of one (1) years of professional experience or (1) college internships in Actuarial field preferred
- Minimum of one (1) year of experience in pension administration, financial services, or mathematical related field preferred.
- Foundational understanding of actuarial concepts, especially as it relates to pensions.
- Strong analytical for creative problem solving ability.
- Strong ability with accounting/database software applications (eg: Microsoft Excel) and mathematical (basic accounting) concepts required.
- Ability to speak and write in a grammatically correct, understandable manner in order to process assigned correspondence and effectively communicate with a wide variety of individuals both internally and externally.
- Ability to organize and effectively prioritize work.
- Ability to work in and promote a team environment.
- Effective interpersonal skills are required to develop relationships with clients and agents.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
