Payroll Analyst

500 CRAWFORD SUITE 402 - PORTSMOUTH, VA 23704 US (Primary) Category Finance Job Description Essential Duties and Responsibilities Responsible for assisting with the preparation and processing of weekly and biweekly payrolls for over 300 employees; review and ensure accuracy of approved timesheets Track and deduct all garnishments, pay levies, and other special payroll deductions Administration of the electronic timekeeping system, monitor submissions of approved timesheets, ensure valid data transfers to/from payroll software Review payroll changes for proper authorization and adherence to Fairlead policy including compliance with federal/state/local regulations Assist in processing the filing of weekly, monthly and quarterly payroll taxes and payroll deductions Prepare GL reconciliations/journal entries Qualifications Associate Degree in Business Administration/Finance required, Accounting Degree preferred 2+ years of payroll experience required Strong skills using and understanding the flow of transactions in an integrated and automated payroll accounting system Excellent communications skills, both verbal and written, to communicate with employees regarding issues and concerns Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise extreme discretion Excellent problem‑solving skills, and high level of attention to detail and accuracy Strong organizational skills, and the ability to work under pressure Ability to handle and prioritize multiple tasks and meet all deadlines Physical Demands While performing these job duties, the employee is routinely required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; use fingers and hands to type or write; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear; taste or smell.
