Principal Engineer

Position Overview We are seeking a highly experienced Principal Engineer to lead complex engineering projects in mechanical and/or electrical disciplines. This role is responsible for providing technical leadership, mentoring junior engineers, and ensuring innovative, cost-effective, and compliant solutions across design, development, and implementation phases. The Principal Engineer will serve as a subject matter expert, driving excellence in engineering practices and project execution. Must be an Alabama resident living within 60 miles of Hoover, AL. Key Responsibilities Lead the design, analysis, and implementation of mechanical and/or electrical systems for large-scale projects Provide technical oversight and guidance to engineering teams, ensuring adherence to industry standards and best practices Collaborate with cross-functional teams including project managers, construction teams, and clients to deliver high-quality solutions Conduct feasibility studies, risk assessments, and system performance evaluations Review and approve engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documentation Mentor and develop junior engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and innovation Ensure compliance with applicable codes, safety standards, and regulatory requirements Drive process improvements, cost optimization, and efficiency in engineering workflows Represent the company in client meetings, technical discussions, and industry forums Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (Master’s preferred) 10+ years of engineering experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership or senior technical role Professional Engineer (PE) license strongly preferred Proven expertise in mechanical/electrical system design, analysis, and implementation Strong knowledge of industry codes (e.g., ASME, IEEE, NEC, NFPA) Excellent communication, leadership, and problem‑solving skills Proficiency in engineering software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks, MATLAB, ETAP) Must be an Alabama resident living within 60 miles of Hoover, AL Preferred Skills Experience in utilities, industrial facilities, or infrastructure projects Familiarity with project management methodologies and tools Demonstrated ability to manage budgets, schedules, and technical deliverables Strong client-facing and stakeholder management skills Base Pay Range $100,000.00/yr – $150,000.00/yr Location Hoover, Alabama (must reside within 60 miles) Employment Type Full-time Seniority level Associate Job function Civil Engineering and Engineering Services Benefits Medical insurance, Vision insurance, 401(k) Referrals Referrals increase your chances of interviewing at Insight Global by 2x. #J-18808-Ljbffr Insight Global
