Job Title: Substance Use Disorder (SUD) Assessor Position Summary We are seeking a knowledgeable, compassionate, and detail-oriented Substance Use Disorder (SUD) Assessor to join our clinical team. The SUD Assessor serves as the initial point of contact for individuals seeking treatment by conducting comprehensive substance use assessments, determining the appropriate level of care using the American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM) Criteria, and coordinating referrals to ensure timely access to treatment services. The ideal candidate is committed to delivering high-quality, client-centered care while maintaining compliance with all regulatory and organizational requirements. Position Details Employment Type: Full-Time Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Work Location: On-site only. This position requires in-person services and is not eligible for remote or hybrid work . Key Responsibilities Conduct comprehensive substance use disorder assessments to evaluate each individual's clinical needs and determine the appropriate level of care using the American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM) Criteria. Complete timely, accurate, and thorough documentation in the organization's electronic health record (EHR), ensuring all patient records are maintained in accordance with organizational standards. Maintain compliance with all applicable local, state, and federal regulations, including HIPAA, 42 CFR Part 2, and other confidentiality and privacy requirements. Coordinate continuum of care activities for individuals seeking treatment, including referrals to appropriate levels of care and ancillary services to support recovery. Collaborate with referral sources, community partners, and external agencies to ensure seamless transitions into treatment and compliance with referral requirements. Facilitate appropriate funding arrangements by assisting clients with insurance verification, funding eligibility, and other financial resources that support the …?... Communicate effectively with multidisciplinary treatment teams to support coordinated care. Maintain knowledge of ASAM Criteria, evidence-based practices, and community treatment resources. Participate in staff meetings, trainings, supervision, and quality improvement activities as required. Qualifications Bachelor's or Master's degree in Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, Human Services, or a related behavioral health field. Experience conducting substance use assessments and utilizing ASAM Criteria preferred. Working knowledge of electronic health records and clinical documentation standards. Excellent assessment, communication, organizational, and critical thinking skills. Ability to establish rapport with individuals from diverse backgrounds while maintaining professionalism, empathy, and confidentiality.
