POSITION DETAILS

• Employment Type: Full-time or part-time
• Compensation: Hourly compensation plus shared tips; final rate based on experience and scheduled shift
• Schedule: Day and evening shifts; weekend, holiday and event availability required
• Location: On-site in SouthPark, Charlotte
• Reports To: Beverage Manager and Manager on Duty

ABOUT GOURMAND

Gourmand Market is a boutique gourmet market, café, full bar, retail and gift shop, and event space in SouthPark. Guests come to us for coffee and pastries, dine-in and grab-and-go food, curated retail, wine and cocktails, catering, classes, tastings and community events. Because our concept is intentionally small and highly integrated, every employee learns the fundamentals of neighboring positions and communicates clearly across departments.

THE ROLE

This is not a stay-behind-the-bar position. You will prepare cocktails, mocktails, wine, beer and specialty beverages while also providing table service, operating Toast POS, supporting retail and coffee service, running food, maintaining guest areas and helping execute events. Every bartender is cross-trained and expected to contribute wherever service requires support.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Prepare classic and house cocktails, mocktails, wine, beer and specialty beverages consistently
• Engage guests, build regulars and make confident beverage, food and retail recommendations
• Verify identification and follow all responsible-service and ABC requirements
• Take food and beverage orders and operate Toast POS accurately
• Provide table service, run food, clear and reset tables in the bar and mezzanine
• Maintain bar mise en place, glassware, garnishes, cleanliness and presentation
• Restock and rotate beverage inventory and communicate shortages promptly
• Support coffee, retail checkout, merchandising and events when needed
• Complete opening, closing and assigned shift checklists without constant direction
• Communicate clearly with the kitchen, coffee, retail and management teams
• Make logical substitutions or practical service adjustments while protecting recipes, cost and quality
• Maintain an engaging, polished atmosphere during both quiet and high-volume periods

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

• Bartending, restaurant, wine-bar or comparable beverage-service experience preferred
• Working knowledge of cocktails, spirits, wine and beer
• Toast POS experience and beverage-pairing knowledge are strong advantages
• Polished, professional and well-groomed guest-facing presence
• Engaging, articulate and comfortable leading the guest interaction
• Perceptive and composed, with the situational awareness to read guests and control service flow
• Leadership mindset: take ownership, anticipate needs and influence standards regardless of title
• Quick learner with sound judgment, responsible-service discipline and attention to detail
• Reliable, punctual and able to work independently without constant direction
• Able to stand and move throughout the shift and safely handle routine stocking and service tasks
