Mount View High School in Thorndike is seeking an Alternative Education teacher. We are seeking a dynamic educator to lead our alternative education program. This position seeks a creative teacher who is passionate about creative education practices and providing project-based learning opportunities in a supportive, student-centered environment. The ideal candidate will have experience working with students who thrive in non-traditional settings and be committed to building strong relationships that foster trust, resilience, and academic growth.


Responsibilities include:

• Designing and implementing project-based, interdisciplinary curriculum aligned with Maine Learning Results and student interests.
• Creating an inclusive classroom environment that supports the social, emotional, and academic needs of diverse learners.
• Collaborating with school counselors, social workers, and other support staff to develop individualized learning plans.
• Providing consistent communication with families and caregivers to support student success.
• Maintaining accurate records of student progress and participating in team meetings and professional development.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Maine State Teaching Certification (or eligibility) in appropriate content area(s).
• Experience with alternative education, restorative practices, or trauma-informed teaching.
