Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Medical Surgical Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 hours (18:45 - 07:15) Experience: Minimum 3 years License: Required Certifications: BLS Must-Have: - 3 years RN experience - Travel experience Description: The position requires a minimum of 3 years of experience as a Registered Nurse. Candidates must have travel experience. The schedule will be made at the unit manager's discretion. Please submit all requested time off with your application. Previous charge experience is preferred. The patient ratio experience expected is 6 patients. Experience with the charting system is required. The name of the charting system is Community Hospital. Candidates should possess skills in the following areas: - Bariatric surgery - Blood product administration - Bowel obstruction - Central line blood draw - Chest tubes management - Colostomy and ileostomy care - Feeding tube care and management - Heparin administration - High flow nasal cannula - Insulin administration - Isolation precautions and PPE - Med/Surg practices - Nasal cannula usage - Non-invasive airway management - Oral suctioning - Oxygen administration and tanks - PCA management - Peripheral line care and management - PICC line management - Renal failure management - Starting and maintaining IVs - Surgical drains management - Thyroidectomy care - Tracheostomy care and management - Use of rapid response teams - Wound care and management This unit deals with various post-surgical patients, including those who have undergone robotic and laparoscopic-assisted procedures. Common surgeries include bariatric surgeries, colon resections, thyroidectomies, hernia repairs, appendectomies, and gallbladder surgeries. Candidates may also care for medical-surgical patients, although there is a significant post-surgical presence. Interdisciplinary support includes physical therapy, respiratory services, interpretation services, phlebotomy, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, pharmacy, transportation, and unit secretaries. The patient demographic primarily includes adults and geriatrics. The daily census is approximately 27 patients. The unit consists of 32 rooms. Flexible staffing and scheduling are part of this role. Please note that the patient ratio during night shifts is 6.
