The largest housing authority in the State of New Mexico is looking for energetic, conscientious and detail oriented individuals who enjoy making a difference, being part of a team and takes pride in their career to work in our fast paced office. ACCOUNTANT FOR THE FINANCE DEPARTMENTCompensation: Wage range: $22.47 per hour - $27.64 per hour ($46,744.18 - $57,491.20 annually); the starting hourly rate for this position will be $22.47 per hour.Closing Date/Time: Open until filled POSITION FUNCTION SUMMARY:Under general supervision, performs a variety of paraprofessional accounting duties in the preparation, maintenance, and processing of accounting records and financial transactions including payroll, purchasing, rent collections, accounts payable and verification of financial transactions to ensure timely payment of invoices; processes expenses and invoices; completes tax returns and forms; balances accounts; assists in preparing accounts for audit; maintains accurate financial records; assists in the preparation of financial reports and analyses; and performs related duties, as assigned.Education and Experience:Required:High school diploma or equivalent, andTwo (2) years of directly related experience in processes and systems described above.Working knowledge and experience in a federally funded program or fund accounting with grant experience.Preferred:Bachelor 's degree in Accounting.Substitution:NoneLanguage Requirements:Ability to read and write English in order to understand and interpret written procedures and technical manuals.
