Credit Officer

NextStep Recruiting has partnered with a financial services organization to identify a Credit Officer focused on warehouse lending in the Dallas, TX area. This role is onsite and will support credit risk oversight, portfolio management, and team leadership within a specialized lending division.

This position is ideal for a warehouse lending credit professional who brings both strong risk discipline and leadership capability. The right candidate is comfortable operating at a strategic level while staying close to credit quality, deal structure, and portfolio performance.

Required:

• 5+ years of experience in mortgage warehouse lending credit, risk, or lending
• Strong knowledge of warehouse lending structures, collateral controls, and borrower evaluation
• Experience reviewing and approving credit packages with accountability for credit quality
• Proven ability to monitor portfolio performance, identify risk trends, and take action
• Experience managing or mentoring credit or risk staff

Preferred:

• Background working closely with sales, operations, and executive leadership
• Experience presenting credit insights and portfolio reporting to senior stakeholders
• Strong understanding of mortgage banking operations and originator profiles
• Ability to influence policy, process improvements, and risk management frameworks
• Strong communication skills with the ability to translate complex credit topics clearly
