Registered Nurse PACU

Carries out all duties while maintaining compliance and confidentiality and promoting the mission and philosophy of the organization.Essential FunctionsResponsible for all activities associated with the delivery of quality nursing practices and duties assigned to this role.Prepares the patient care area adequately, ensuring all necessary equipment and supplies are available.Performs and documents head to toe assessment of patient upon arrival to PACU.Assesses and maintains integrity of dressings and/or operative site. Reports abnormalities to the surgeon.Demonstrates proper airway management techniques.Monitors patients according to policy (vitals, airway, LOC, temperature, cardiac etc.).Exhibits proper technique for IV catheter insertion, maintenance and removal.Ensures patient meets discharge criteria.Provides clear and concise discharge instructions.Provides a safe and comforting environment for patients and family.Assesses patient and family needs in order to provide quality care to assigned patients.Evaluates patient's response and intervenes appropriately for optimal outcome.Clearly communicates instructions to patient and family and appropriately answer questions.Appropriately adapts during rapidly changing pace and manages resources as needed to maintain patient flow.Develops, discusses, and communicates a realistic problem list (plan of care) for each patient, in collaboration with each patient, family, and significant other in order to address all identified needs.Demonstrates the skills and judgment necessary to implement the medical plan of care, nursing interventions, and procedures as necessary for the care of the patient.Evaluates the identified problems, care provided, and patient's responses are reassessed in order meet patient and family needs to ensure overall quality of care delivered.Maintains up?to?date and accurate documentation of nursing care provided to ensure the integration of information for use by the healthcare team, in order to ensure quality care.Directs other licensed and non-licensed personnel in the provision of care to patients as assigned.Attends all required safety training programs and can describe his or her responsibilities related to general safety, center/service safety, and specific job-related hazards.Demonstrates respect and regard for the dignity of all patients, families, visitors, and fellow employees to ensure a professional, responsible, and courteous environment.Performs all responsibilities/duties required by the center, as defined in the scope of service, to ensure that the unique nature of the client is addressed.Adheres to all company policies, including but not limited to OSHA, HIPAA, compliance, and Code of Conduct.Regular and dependable attendance.Follows the core competencies set forth by the Company, which are available for review on ARC SharePoint.Other Duties and ResponsibilitiesCross-trains to pre-op and PACU and work in those areas when requested.Performs selected duties as delegated by the DON or others in authority.Performs other duties as assigned.QualificationsEducation and ExperienceRequired:High school diploma or GED.Graduation from an accredited school of nursing.Two (2) or more years RN experience.Preferred:Bachelor's degree.ASC or critical care experience.Certificate/LicenseCurrent licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of Texas required.Current AHA approved Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) course completion card and current AHA approved Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Healthcare Provider Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) course completion card required.Current AHA approved Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Healthcare Provider Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) course completion card preferred.Required to maintain a current registered nursing license and CPR certifications during employment.Current ACLS certification preferred or basic EKG or Arrhythmia identification certification.Knowledge, Skills and AbilitiesKnowledge of all activities associated with the delivery of quality nursing practices and duties assigned to this role.Skill in nursing practices within the scope of responsibilities assigned to this role.Ability to manage multiple nursing activities simultaneously in a fast –paced environment.The ability to work within a stressful environment under consistent deadlines, pressures and interruptions.Excellent verbal and written documentation and communication skills.Ability to use nursing judgment and to apply nursing principles, practices and techniques.Ability to respond appropriately to emergency situations.Ability to work variable hours and be flexible to meet the needs of the center's daily surgery schedule.Excellent computer and keyboarding skills. Must be adept at using EMR, Microsoft Word and Windows, communicate by e-mail and use scheduling software.Excellent customer service skills.Excellent interpersonal and problem solve skills.Ability to work in a team environment.Ability to engage others, listen and adapt response to meet others' needs.Ability to perform job duties in a professional manner at all times.Ability to align own actions with those of other team members committed to common goals.Ability to understand, recall, and apply oral and/or written instructions or other information.Ability to organize thoughts and ideas into understandable terminology.Ability to apply common sense in performing job.Ability to demonstrate a proactive approach to problem identification and solutions.Ability to demonstrate appropriate time management skills, prioritization and task completion.Work Schedule: Monday- FridayEqual Opportunity Employer This employer is required to notify all applicants of their rights pursuant to federal employment laws.
