The mid-life RCOH includes refueling of nuclear reactors, overhauling most machinery, and modernizing warfare systems. The selected candidate will be supporting RCOH by performing a number of welding processes and related duties on shipboard piping and structural systems to assist with refit and fleet modernization.Essential Job Responsibilities:Installs piping and structural components utilizing various welding processes, operate, maintain, repair and modify equipment.Performs a variety of maintenance and technical support on products such as equipment, and/or at field locations.Analyzes and evaluates products and related performance.Troubleshoots and diagnoses malfunctions to eliminate problem in minimum time.Maintains effective customer communications and relations.Minimum Qualifications:High School education, or Trade School or equivalent, and 2- 6 years of related experience.Prefer technical/professional certifications.Must provide own hand tools as designated per trades specialty.Must be able to qualify SMAW & GTAW (Stick/Tig) in all processes of carbon and stainless steel (Pipe and Structural) welding.Must be able to pass general and specific knowledge exam on welder workmanship.Must be able to recognize, set up, and operate hand and power tools common to the welding trade.Must be able to accurately fit-up, install and weld structural and piping components.Must be able to communicate verbally and electronically, follow detailed instructions, and be self-motivated.Must have the ability to make decisions using sound judgment while complying with policies, procedure appropriate principles and applicable state and federal laws and regulations.Must be able to interpret blueprints, drawings and/or specifications to fabricated and/or weld install structural and piping systems.Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD secret security clearance.Must be able to obtain base access credentials within 60 days of start date and maintain credentials throughout employment.Must be a U.S. citizen.Preferred Requirements:Worked onboard US Naval Ships.OSHA 10 Qualification.Ability to supervise small team, providing guidance as needed.Ability to obtain higher qualifications needed for the project i.e. (Stainless, Aluminum, and Copper Nickel).Ability to obtain thin wall qualification.Knowledge Oxygen/Acetylene and Plasma cutting processes.Physical Requirements:Must be able to lift, carry and transport heavy equipment and boxes. The exact weight requirements will be determined by the specific job, but no less than 30 lbs.Able to work on and climb ladders, work in extreme temperature environments, aboard ships, in shipyards, under industrial conditions and in confined spaces.Able to perform other duties as required which may involve high heat, humidity, noise and dirty conditions, working aloft or over the sides of vessels.May ride ships at sea for extended periods.May require wearing a respirator.Travel may be required within and outside of the continental United States.
