Social Media Director

Zarkini Media is hiring a full-time, in-house Social Media Director to join our team in Babylon Village, Long Island. We are a fast-growing short-form media agency managing content and social media for 30+ businesses and personal brands. This is not a traditional social media management position, and this role is not meant for everyone. We are looking for someone who understands the entire content process — strategy, client management, filming, directing, editing, viral content, quality control, and execution. We are looking for someone who wants to become the Spielberg of short-form content — someone obsessed with creating videos people actually want to watch. The right person should be able to take responsibility for a client's content from the initial idea all the way through filming, editing, approval, and publishing. RESPONSIBILITIES Help oversee the daily content strategy and production needs of 30+ active clients Develop short-form content concepts designed to generate views, engagement, leads, and brand awareness Research viral trends, formats, hooks, creators, and content opportunities across different industries Understand why certain videos perform and know how to adapt winning concepts to completely different businesses Build content strategies around each client's audience, personality, industry, and goals Direct clients during filming sessions to get the strongest possible performance on camera Professionally shoot short-form content using Sony camera systems Understand camera settings, lenses, lighting, framing, audio, and how to create a professional image quickly Help clients improve their delivery, hooks, talking points, storytelling, and on-camera presence Manage relationships with a large portfolio of clients and confidently communicate creative direction Understand each client's brand well enough to make decisions without constant supervision Review edited videos and provide clear, detailed feedback to editors Catch mistakes in videos before they reach the client or are published Edit short-form content when necessary and understand professional short-form editing standards Work directly with videographers, editors, social media managers, and the production team Keep productions organized and make sure client deliverables stay on schedule Solve day-to-day client and production problems quicklyIdentify underperforming content and adjust strategy accordingly Continuously find new ways to improve client content and increase its potential to go viral Help maintain a high standard of quality across every account Zarkini Media manages REQUIRED SKILLS You should have a strong understanding of: Short-form social media strategy Instagram Reels TikTok YouTube Shorts Viral content strategy Content ideation Hooks and storytelling Social media trends Audience psychology Client management Video production Sony camera systems Camera settings and professional shooting techniques Lighting and audio Directing talent on camera Adobe Premiere Pro Short-form video editing Reviewing and quality controlling edited content Managing large volumes of content and multiple client accounts simultaneously You must also have a reliable car and be able to travel to client productions throughout Long Island and the surrounding area when needed. WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR We are looking for someone who is obsessed with content . You should naturally study what is going viral, understand why certain creators and businesses outperform others, and constantly be thinking about how to make content more entertaining, more engaging, and more effective. You cannot just be someone who knows how to hold a camera. We need someone who understands what should be filmed, why it should be filmed, how it should be filmed, and how to turn that footage into a piece of content that has the potential to take off. You must be comfortable working directly with business owners and clients, directing people on camera, managing personalities, giving creative feedback, solving problems, and taking ownership of results. You also need to be extremely organized. This role will involve helping oversee 30+ clients at a time , multiple productions, hundreds of videos, editors, deadlines, revisions, and ongoing content strategies. We need someone who can operate at a high level without needing to be told what to do every step of the way. THIS ROLE IS A GOOD FIT IF YOU CAN Walk into a client production and immediately know what content should be filmed Take an average content idea and turn it into something people actually want to watch Look at someone's social media page and identify why their content is or isn't working Find viral concepts and adapt them to completely different industries Confidently shoot professional content on Sony cameras Direct a client who isn't naturally good on camera Create strong visuals, framing, lighting, and movement without needing a massive production crew Review an edit and immediately identify what needs to change Communicate effectively with demanding clients Manage dozens of moving parts without losing track of deadlines Understand both the creative and operational side of a media company Take ownership instead of waiting for instructions THIS IS NOT FOR EVERYONE We are not looking for someone who simply wants a job in social media. We are looking for someone who wants to become one of the best short-form content directors in the industry . Someone who gets excited about making a video better. Someone who studies viral content for fun. Someone who notices the hook, the camera angle, the pacing, the edit, the lighting, the delivery, and the reason someone stopped scrolling. We want the person who looks at an average piece of content and immediately starts thinking about how they would make it 10x better. THE PERSON WE NEED We are ultimately looking for someone who can become a second creative and production leader inside Zarkini Media . Someone capable of managing clients, running productions, developing viral concepts, directing shoots, operating Sony cameras, reviewing edits, solving problems, and helping oversee the quality of everything that leaves the company.
