Join a company where your contributions help move the world forward—one shipment at a time.About the PositionAs a Battery Technician, you’ll be responsible for assemble, install, inspect, and maintain batteries in various devices, from cars and other heavy machinery to power plants.FunctionsRemoves and disassembles cells and inspects parts to detect defects.Replaces defective parts, reassembles battery, and fuses lead parts with gas torch.Fills cells with acid solution and determines specific gravity of solution.Adds acid or water to obtain specified concentration.Attaches charger leads to battery posts or connector and starts charger.Reads meters and adjusts charge parameters to control time and flow of current through battery.Ability to perform discharge tests, evaluates results, and makes necessary repairs.Washes, cleans, and neutralizes customers batteries at customer location or in the service center.Repairs battery charging equipment.QualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalent preferred.Knowledge of using, troubleshooting, maintaining and repairing electrical and battery testing equipment.Knowledge of battery safety best practices and industry standards, related to the testing, storage and disposal of lithium-ion and lithium primary cells and batteries.Physical stamina and mobility including ability to reach, kneel and bend.Ability to lift, push and pull required load (usually about 30lbs).CompetenciesAction Oriented - Taking on new opportunities and tough challenges with a sense of urgency, high energy, and enthusiasm.Collaborates - Building partnerships and working collaboratively with others to meet shared objectives.Decision Quality - Making good and timely decisions that keep the organization moving forward.Optimizes Work Processes - Knowing the most effective and efficient processes to get things done, with a focus on continuous improvement.Situational Adaptability - Adapting approach and demeanor in real time to match the shifting demands of different situations.Travel RequirementsThis position is expected to travel approximately 25% - 50%.A passport is not required, but recommended.DisclosuresThe statements above are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by employees assigned to this job.
