Patents | Counsel (Electrical Engineering)

Position Overview Norton Rose Fulbright is seeking a Counsel to join its Patents team. The role requires a strong background in patent prosecution, with a focus on 5G, Wi‑Fi and other wireless technologies, artificial intelligence (AI), processor and memory systems, image processing, and RF front‑end. Key Responsibilities Prosecute and manage patent applications in the specified technology areas. Liaise with clients to develop and manage patent portfolios. Advise clients on patent strategy and technology placement. Collaborate with the Patents team on complex matters to support firm growth. Progress to Senior Counsel based on performance, contributions, and achievements. Key Qualifications Electrical Engineering degree (or equivalent). At least two years of patent prosecution experience. Registered with the USPTO or qualified to register. Admitted to and in good standing of the Bar, or eligible to waive. Strong analytical, verbal, and written communication skills. Preferred Domain Experience Autonomous vehicles, robotics, natural language processing, wireless communications, computer vision, or related AI fields. Location Position may be based in any U.S. office: Austin, Chicago, Dallas, Denver, Houston, Los Angeles, Minneapolis, New York, San Antonio, San Francisco, St. Louis, or Washington, D.C. Compensation Base salary for this position in New York City, Denver, Los Angeles, and San Francisco markets is expected to range between $225,000 and $315,000. Salary in other markets will vary.
