Distribution Field Technician

Verdantas is seeking a Distribution Field Technician for Grand Rapids or Petoskey, MI. This hands‑on role supports field operations, ensuring quality and compliance across infrastructure projects. What You’ll Do Map and inventory existing overhead and underground distribution systems in the field, supporting design and providing input on system upgrades. Identify system and safety issues in electrical systems, including response to emergency outages caused by storms or technical issues. Coordinate pre‑construction meetings between clients and construction contractors. Perform construction inspections and spot checks to ensure construction meets design and safety standards. Perform post‑construction inspections supporting as‑built documentation and ensuring safe reliable electricity distribution. Complete field documentation timely, including JSA forms, project field reports, field notes, monitoring, and chain‑of‑custody forms. Maintain detailed records of work performed and maintain strong communication with office staff. What You Bring High School Diploma or equivalent. Completion of lineman apprenticeship program and a Department of Labor Journeyman certificate. 2‑5 years of experience with electric overhead and underground distribution systems. Strong technical knowledge of electrical systems and equipment (transformers, insulators, switches, conductors, elbows, and tees). Ability to read and interpret technical diagrams and electrical plans. Capability to work primarily outdoors, occasional office tasks. Ability to carry up to 50 lbs. and, optionally, ability to climb poles. Commitment to safety protocols and regulatory compliance. Strong written and verbal communication skills.
