About this position The Maintenance Technician, Instruments and Controls is responsible for the installation, maintenance, optimization, and repair of automation and controls systems at Bakerly Ranch. They troubleshoot PLCs and component parts, maintain facility and ammonia related processes, and act as subject‑matter expert. They coordinate with all departments, report on automation capabilities, and develop training to improve production and efficiency. Responsibilities Assist engineering and plant staff with the specification, installation, and modification of automated systems and maintain awareness of how changes affect line efficiency. Communicate project status, manage expectations, resolve issues, and ensure consistent functionality of automation. Install, maintain, and inspect control systems and workstation installations throughout the facility. Ensure machines are properly calibrated and assist with annual calibrations and inspections. Assist in maintenance projects supporting overall Maintenance Department goals, including facilities and refrigerant tasking. Forecast and provide expertise for advancing automated systems throughout the plant. Coordinate schedules and delegate tasks to accomplish departmental goals. Provide technical guidance and mentoring to automation technicians and colleagues. Document and deliver training to operators on automation systems. Provide ongoing troubleshooting and maintenance support for automated systems and work with operators and supervisors during production. Support continuous improvement, modify job plans, perform audits, and assist vendor repairs. Lead and monitor all machinery and equipment adjustments and perform tasks necessary for efficient start‑ups, daily operations, change‑over and shut‑downs. Utilize the CMMS (Manager Plus) for creating, updating, and completing work orders. Identify, implement, and document maintenance and reliability best practices for automation systems and controls within Bakerly Ranch. Requirements 2 years of experience in electrical, mechanical, or industrial automation; manufacturing experience preferred. Experience working with PLCs, industrial electricity, automation control, and mechanical repairs. Familiarity with plant specific automation products such as SewEuro, Siemens PLCs & VFDs. Basic knowledge of AutoCAD / SolidWorks. Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills. Proficient with Microsoft Office. Strong problem‑solving abilities, work autonomously and results oriented. Ability to work in extreme temperatures, heights, around machinery and chemicals. Flexible schedule and willingness to work varied hours. Ability to lift 50 pounds repeatedly. High school diploma or equivalent. Benefits Competitive salary and performance‑based bonus incentives.
