The Accountant II position earns a competitive pay of $ 57,963.07/year . A DAY IN THE LIFE OF AN ACCOUNTANT II
As an Accountant II, you spend your day maintaining and balancing financial statements, reports, schedules, exhibits, and processes general journal entries. Your work typically is responsible for processing payments, cash, purchases, travels, and related vouchers. Your job is essential to the city, and you audit accounting and financial documents for accuracy and compliance. You are constantly on your toes and ready for any new and unexpected challenges that may arise in the city. This can include researching and reconciling discrepancies in accounts, bank statements, or appropriation balances. You verify new hire and termination paperwork, employee timesheets, prints and distributes checks, assists to maintain reports and tracking data. You also assist in the City's employees' payroll entering garnishments, adjustments, bank information and transfer hours into payroll software. You enjoy being helpful and have no problem providing assistance and support to other divisions within the department as needed. The city needs someone like you with skills in finance and you finding genuine enjoyment in what you do!
QUALIFICATIONS FOR AN ACCOUNTANT II
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, or related field
- Requires four (4) years professional work experience with progressively responsible duties consistent with the essential job duties of the position.
- Requires two (2) years of experience as a supervisor or oversight of a group of employees.
- Must have a current valid class "C" driver's license from the Texas Department of Public Safety.
